Evonik Donates Funds To Deer Park Education Foundation

Grant From Global Innovation Leader Marks Company's New Corporate Identity

DEER PARK, Texas, December 4, 2007 – Evonik Industries, whose chemical operations were formally known as Degussa, today presented the Deer Park Education Foundation with a $500 community grant to support the Foundation's education programs.

Morgan Enty, Evonik’s RohMax USA site manager, said the company made the donation to introduce its new identity.

"We're proud of what we do here in Deer Park and we are proud of our industry," Enty said. "Chemistry is a cornerstone of our society. Without it, many of the products, conveniences and medicines to which we've become accustomed would not exist."

Sheri Brown, coordinator of the Deer Park Education Foundation, said the donation was "very appreciated" noting that the Foundation distributes grants to teachers for innovative programs or projects.

"Donations such as this one from Evonik will help teachers bring subjects alive, such as science" said Brown.  "Contributions from corporations help fund a variety of items, including science labs, which are very important to our students today."

The $500 grant is Evonik’s way of celebrating with its neighbors in Deer Park but is also a continuation of the company-wide commitment to science education, said Enty “Learning about the wonders of science can serve as a great inspiration for students, who may go on to be the chemists, researchers, or engineers of tomorrow,” he added.

Evonik employees have a deep commitment to science education, he noted. “By supporting our educational institutions,” Enty said, “we are investing in the development of new scientific discoveries, future research and development researchers, and global economic advancement.”
